3 Free

This is my first post in my first blog, so please be patient.

I have 3 free tools that anyone can use to check flight status real time and avoid airline websites. You may find one or the other more useful, depending on your needs.

1. Flight Status is great if you have a Palm PDA. I have Flight Status on my Treo and I have found it quite useful. You get flight speed, altitude and estimated arrival time. The part I like best is that you can look up the flight number if you know the departure and arrival cities, airline, and approximate departure or arrival time. You can download Flight Status from www.andrewsoft.net.

2. Google can give you real time flight information. Just text the 2 letter airline code and flight number to 4 6 6 4 5 3 (g o o g l e) from your mobile phone and they will send you the flight status back to you in a text message.

3. Both of the tools above probably get their data from www.flightview.com and it is available for use by general public as well. You can look up flight information as well as get the current flight status on line. The nice thing about this website is that you also can see a map showing the location of the flight as well as the air route. I haven't tried this website on an I Phone, but it doesn't work well on a Treo.

Wishing Safe and Happy Travels
